Every year, the Morson Praxis Core Value Awards recognise the people who bring our values to life through their actions, behaviours and the impact they have on those around them.

This year, Becky Hicks has been named the winner of our Care Award, following nominations from colleagues who described someone who consistently puts people first – often quietly, behind the scenes and without expecting recognition in return.

Becky was presented her award at our recent (Western themed!) Morson Group Conference:

For Becky’s colleagues, Care isn’t simply something she demonstrates as part of her role in HR. It’s fundamental to who she is.

As one colleague put it:

“Caring about other people is just who Becky is.”

Making time for people

Working within HR means Becky’s days are often busy, with competing priorities and demands from across the business. Yet one of the strongest themes to emerge from her nominations was her ability to make time for people regardless of how much she has on her own plate.

Colleagues spoke about her willingness to listen, step in when someone needs support and quietly resolve problems to make things easier for others.

She regularly provides cover when colleagues are away, even alongside a full workload of her own, and approaches those additional responsibilities with the same positivity and care she brings to everything else.

One nomination described how Becky:

“Will make time for people, listen when someone needs it, jump in when something needs doing and quietly sort things out behind the scenes to make life easier for others.”

That willingness to help is accompanied by something equally important: integrity.

Becky was described as someone people can trust to do the right thing and find the best outcome, even when that requires additional time and effort.

Her colleagues also highlighted the pride she takes in the quality of her work and, crucially, the people delivering that work alongside her.

Care that makes a difference

Across Becky’s nominations, the same qualities appeared time and again: compassion, warmth, reliability, selflessness and a genuine desire to see other people succeed.

One colleague explained:

“She cares because she genuinely wants the people around her to be safe, happy and to do well.”

Another described her as someone with “wit, warmth, incredible compassion” who, despite juggling everything thrown at her, somehow continues to find time for everyone else.

It is that combination of care for people and commitment to the business that made Becky such a deserving winner.

As one nomination summarised:

“For me, Becky embodies what ‘Care’ should mean. She looks after people, she takes pride in work that matters, and she makes the business a better place simply by being part of it.”

Our values are ultimately defined by the way our people choose to put them into practice every day. Becky’s nominations demonstrate that Care can be found in the small actions as much as the big ones: making time, listening, helping, supporting and being someone others know they can rely upon.

Congratulations, Becky, on being named our 2026 Care Award winner – and thank you for everything you do for the people around you.
