Morson Praxis was proud to sponsor the Women in Construction in Lincolnshire (WiCiL) Autumn Social, bringing together women from across the construction, property and wider built environment sectors for an afternoon of networking, shared experiences and new connections.

Held at the beautiful Skendleby Hall in Lincolnshire on 15 October, the event provided an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of women to the industry, strengthen professional networks and explore how we can create more opportunities for women to develop and build lasting careers in construction.

As part of our commitment to supporting the local construction community, our team was represented by Linzi Ross, Partnerships and Development Lead; Hannah Cook, Head of Marketing and Communications; and Nina Windmann, Marketing Graduate.

Supporting a more inclusive construction industry

Linzi Ross has recently joined the Women in Construction in Lincolnshire committee, further strengthening Morson Praxis’s involvement in the local industry and its commitment to creating opportunities for women.

Having worked in construction throughout her career, Linzi has seen the industry evolve and become more inclusive. Joining the committee offers an opportunity to contribute to that progress by encouraging greater diversity, raising awareness of the many careers available in construction and helping individuals access new opportunities.

Linzi Ross, Partnerships and Development Lead, reflected on her involvement:

“Having worked in construction my whole career, it’s been wonderful to see the industry becoming more inclusive, and joining the WiCiL committee has given me the chance to be part of that change. Our aim is to transform opportunities for individuals, encourage greater diversity, and raise the profile of the many careers construction has to offer.

“Arranging our autumn event at Skendleby Hall was a real highlight. It brought together women from across the industry, giving them the chance to make new connections and open doors to further opportunities.”

The value of people, experience and professional networks

Hannah Cook also spoke at the event, reflecting on her career in construction and the importance of professional networks in creating opportunities for people to learn and progress. She highlighted that she, Linzi and Nina have almost 40 years of combined experience in Lincolnshire’s construction industry.

Her message linked to the Morson Praxis Human Premium: the value people bring through experience, judgement, collaboration and trust. While technology continues to expand what we can achieve, it is people who turn technical capability into meaningful value.

Hannah also emphasised the importance of developing and retaining talent, particularly women in construction. Attracting more women into the industry is only part of the challenge; creating an environment where they feel supported, can progress and can build long-term careers is equally important. Supporting professional networks such as WiCiL is one way to help make that happen.

Bringing the industry together

The Autumn Social took place at Skendleby Hall, a historic country house in the Lincolnshire Wolds, providing a distinctive setting for the afternoon. With its rich heritage and character, the venue offered a fitting backdrop for bringing people together to share experiences, make connections and celebrate the local construction community.

At Morson Praxis, we believe that developing people is just as important as developing technology. Through industry networks, mentoring, STEM outreach and events, we look forward to continuing to support initiatives that help people thrive and build successful careers in construction.
