Designing with sustainability at the core, this project reflects IKEA’s people and planet positive ambition.
Morson Praxis were commissioned by home furnishings giant IKEA to go big with green credentials at their new flagship eco-store in Greenwich. The store was designed and built with sustainability at its core, reflecting IKEA’s people and planet positive ambition.
The client required a digitally focused Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Building Services Design consultancy to support the delivery of their new eco-leading flagship store.
The brief called for an innovative, future-proofed design that aligned with IKEA’s long-term operational goals and sustainability ambitions.
The project aimed to achieve the highest possible environmental performance, targeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, with particular emphasis on low and zero carbon technologies, water efficiency, and reduced NOx emissions.

Leveraging our Building Information Modelling (BIM) expertise, we delivered a robust and future-ready solution by ‘starting with the end in mind’—taking into account IKEA’s long-term asset management strategy.
The design contributed to the store achieving a BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’ with a score of 90.4%, securing excellent performance in key areas such as Low and Zero Carbon Technologies, Water Consumption, and NOx Emissions.
From concept to completion, a truly multi-disciplinary solution.
Our team were originally appointed by IKEA to deliver the Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Design for RIBA Stages 1-3. Following the success of this, we were later novated to carry out RIBA Stages 4-5 for the contractor, Norstead.
