On 12th June, members of the Morson Praxis Civil & Structural Engineering team completed an extraordinary 26-mile paddleboarding challenge along the River Witham, raising funds and awareness for Child Bereavement UK.

The team have currently raised an incredible £1836 of their £2000 target.

Setting off at first light from Stamp End Lock in Lincoln, the team travelled downstream to Langrick Bridge near Boston, covering the equivalent of a marathon entirely by paddleboard. The challenge demanded more than 12 hours of continuous paddling and tested both physical endurance and mental resilience.

What began as a fundraising initiative quickly became a demonstration of teamwork, preparation and determination.

The challenge was undertaken in support of Child Bereavement UK, a charity that provides specialist support to families, children and young people navigating bereavement and grief. The cause holds particular significance for members of the team, making the achievement all the more meaningful.

Those taking part included:

• Thomas Peden
• Harry Maplethorpe
• Joe Baker
• Josh Mahony
• Louis Wells
• Mercedes Rodrigo
• Noah Marshall
• Peyman Band
• Martin Goodwin (support driver)

Reflecting on the challenge, organiser and Civil Engineer Thomas Peden said:

“Completing the route required a huge team effort. Everyone supported one another throughout the day, particularly during the more demanding sections of the journey. The preparation, planning and support behind the scenes were just as important as the paddling itself. Most importantly, we were able to raise awareness and funds for a charity that means a great deal to us.”

At Morson Praxis, engineering is built on collaboration, commitment and a willingness to tackle complex challenges. While this challenge took place away from project sites and client environments, it reflected many of the same qualities that underpin our work every day.

We would like to congratulate everyone involved on an exceptional achievement and thank all those who supported the team through donations, encouragement and fundraising efforts.

Every contribution will help Child Bereavement UK continue providing vital support to families when they need it most.
