Sellafield Ltd, E&EP Asset Group

Morson Praxis were appointed by Sellafield Ltd’s E&EP Asset Group to deliver a comprehensive package of mechanical, control, electrical and instrumentation design services, providing essential engineering support across a range of complex plant operations.

Client Brief

Reliable Design Delivery for a Critical Asset Group

Sellafield Ltd required a trusted engineering partner to provide task-based design support as part of their Engineering Delivery Organisation (EDO), which manages both scheduled and breakdown maintenance for effluent and encapsulation plants on the Sellafield site.
The client’s goal was to streamline design coordination, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain operational efficiency across critical assets.

Project Overview

Delivering Multi-Discipline Engineering Packages

Operating from Morson Praxis’ Greengarth and Manchester offices, our teams delivered end-to-end design packages for plant implementation — including drawings, calculations, specifications, method statements, CDM risk assessments, schedules, and Design Justification Reports (DJRs).
Each package was prepared to the client’s Plant Modification Proposal (PMP) submission requirements, ensuring consistency, traceability, and compliance with Sellafield’s stringent safety and engineering standards.

Our Solutions

Flexible, Transparent and Efficient Delivery

Morson Praxis acted as an integral extension of the E&EP Asset Group’s engineering team, coordinating multi-disciplinary design through a single-point contractual agreement.
This structure provided:

  • Flexible resourcing and geographic coverage to respond quickly to plant needs

  • Fixed-price task delivery where scope was defined

  • Reimbursable cost control for evolving or undefined scopes

  • Shared cost monitoring and reporting systems for full transparency with Sellafield’s TDD managers and cost engineers

This collaborative and auditable approach ensured accurate cost forecasting, accountability, and effective management of complex engineering tasks.

Results

Trusted Engineering Partnership in a High-Hazard Environment

Through proactive coordination and disciplined cost management, Morson Praxis enabled efficient task delivery, improved maintenance responsiveness, and sustained asset reliability within one of the UK’s most complex nuclear environments.
Our integrated working model has strengthened the long-term partnership between Morson Praxis and Sellafield Ltd’s E&EP Asset Group.
