ICOMAT and Morson Praxis sign MoU to explore advanced composites design and manufacturing collaboration

Morson Praxis and ICOMAT have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaboration around advanced composites design, manufacturing and the adoption of ICOMAT’s proprietary Rapid Tow Shearing technology.

The announcement has been made during Farnborough International Airshow, where both organisations are engaging with customers and partners across aerospace, defence and advanced engineering markets.

The collaboration will focus on how Morson Praxis’ engineering design experience and customer relationships can be combined with ICOMAT’s advanced composites manufacturing capability to help customers explore lighter, more efficient and more manufacturable composite structures.

The two organisations intend to work together to build practical familiarity with Rapid Tow Shearing, identify suitable applications, and shape selected opportunities where combined design and manufacturing capability could create value for customers in complex engineering sectors.

Rapid Tow Shearing is ICOMAT’s proprietary automated composites manufacturing technology. It enables fibre-steered composite structures to be designed and manufactured with material placed more closely in line with structural load paths, supporting more efficient structural performance and improved manufacturability.

The MoU provides a framework for collaboration, with specific programme opportunities to be developed and contracted separately where both parties agree there is a strong technical and commercial case to proceed.
