Morson Praxis is proud to recognise Clinton Achusim, BIM Technician, who has been crowned champion at the England Boxing National Amateur Championships in the Senior Elite 90kg+ category.
The national competition brings together the very best amateur boxers from across the country, with Clinton progressing through multiple bouts against top-level opponents. The final, which was held on 18 April, marked a significant milestone in his boxing career.
We caught up with Clinton to learn more about his boxing journey and the dedication behind his recent national championship win:
Hi Clinton! How did it feel to win the national title?
“Winning the England Boxing National Championships at the Magna Centre in Rotherham was a big moment for me. I felt happy and accomplished as it’s something I’ve been working towards for a long time, so to achieve it at that level meant a lot.”
What does it take to become a national champion?
“I’ve been boxing for over five years and train out of Longsight Boxing Club. My journey to becoming a national champion has been shaped by consistent hard work, intense preparation and a commitment to continuous improvement.
“In the lead-up to the championships, my training schedule included early mornings, conditioning sessions and regular sparring, all carefully managed to ensure I peaked at the right time.
“Like many athletes competing at a high level, I’ve faced setbacks along the way. However, these experiences have played a key role in strengthening my resilience and mindset, all qualities that continue to support me both in and out of the ring.”
How do you balance elite sport with a professional career?
“Alongside my achievements in boxing, I work within the BIM team at Morson Praxis as a BIM Technician. I’ve been with the business since February, and although it’s a relatively short time, I’ve integrated really well, which made it easy to settle into the team.
“Balancing a full-time role with elite-level sport requires discipline and structure. My routine often begins with early morning training sessions before the working day, helping me stay committed to both my professional and sporting ambitions.
“The skills I’ve developed through boxing, including focus, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure, translate directly into my day-to-day work and support my continued development within the team.
“Morson Praxis have been very supportive, particularly through flexible start times, which allow me to train in the mornings. The understanding and encouragement from colleagues have made it possible to pursue both my career and boxing at a high level.”
Why is supporting talent beyond the workplace important at Morson Praxis?
Tom Holiday, Clinton’s line manager, shared:
“Since joining the BIM team, Clinton has integrated seamlessly both within the department and across the wider team. He approaches challenging tasks with confidence and is quick to pick up new skills. You wouldn’t know he’s training over 10 times a week given the energy, focus and commitment he brings to his role. Clinton has quickly become a valued member of the team, and it’s fantastic to see his hard work paying off both in boxing and in his engineering career.”
Clinton’s achievement highlights the value of supporting individuals beyond the workplace, recognising that dedication, ambition and discipline extend across all areas of life.
As he continues his Boxing journey, Morson Praxis look forward to supporting his future success.
