This recognition reflects our long-term commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive business that not only supports growth, but actively addresses the skills crisis and creates lasting positive impact across the industries we serve.

Embedding Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We have implemented inclusive recruitment practices to attract a diverse talent pool across apprentices, graduates and senior professionals. By building strong partnerships with organisations and educational institutions such as Nottingham Trent University, we ensure we are reaching individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.

The impact of this work is measurable:

  • 38% of the Morson Praxis team are from non-white British communities
  • 20% of our team identify as women — exceeding the UK engineering industry average of 13.7%

These figures demonstrate real, sustained progress in diversifying our workforce within a traditionally underrepresented sector.

Creating an Inclusive Environment

Recruitment is only the starting point. Retention and inclusion are equally critical.

To ensure all colleagues feel supported and valued, we have:

  • Established an internal E,D & I committee responsible for driving strategy and accountability
  • Embedded inclusive behaviours into leadership and operational practices
  • Focused on creating safe, supportive and empowering workplaces

Since 2021, we have seen a 30% increase in retention, demonstrating that our people feel engaged, heard and motivated to build long-term careers with us.

Informing & Inspiring the Next Generation

A key part of our approach is actively informing and inspiring individuals from underrepresented communities to consider careers in engineering and construction.

We achieve this through:

  • Participation in industry events and career fairs
  • Community engagement and outreach initiatives
  • Supporting employees to act as ambassadors and role models
  • Mentoring programmes with academic institutions and STEM initiatives

We also provide a dedicated space on our website to celebrate the achievements and insights of the women we work with, helping to raise visibility and inspire others considering careers in the industry.

Our teams regularly contribute to mentoring schemes and STEM programmes, ensuring we are not just improving our own organisation, but helping drive broader industry change.

Supporting Early Careers Through Structured Development

Our in-house Early Careers Development Programme (ECDP) provides apprentices and graduates with a structured framework, professional mentoring and clear progression pathways.

This programme ensures that early career professionals, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds, receive the support, guidance and opportunities needed to thrive.

By combining structured development with inclusive culture, we are building a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.

Recognised as a World-Class Employer

Each year, we participate in the independent b-Heard employee engagement survey, which provides confidential and honest feedback from our people.

Our most recent survey recognised Waldeck as a 3-star World-Class Organisation — the highest possible rating.

Key results include:

  • 88% – This job is good for my personal growth
  • 76% – The training in this job is a great personal benefit
  • 86% – I feel proud to work for this organisation
  • 87% – I believe I can make a valuable contribution
  • 82% – I love working for this organisation

These results reinforce that our commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is not just strategic — it is genuinely experienced by our people.
