Morson acquires Grosvenor Power Group and Aurora Power Consulting. We are pleased to announce Morson Group have completed the acquisition of two specialist energy businesses Grosvenor Power Group, and Aurora Power Consulting, significantly strengthening our capability across the UK’s energy infrastructure supply chain and supporting the scale, skills and pace required to enhance national energy resilience.
Grosvenor Power Group, a leading Tier 2 high-voltage transmission and distribution grid integration business, and Aurora Power Consulting, an independent power systems analysis consultancy were completed through separate transactions. Together, they represent a coordinated step in our strategy to expand and integrate capability across the full energy infrastructure delivery chain. Both businesses sit within Morson Praxis, our technical consultancy arm, working closely with Morson Vital, Morson Edge and Morson Nexus.
Ged Mason OBE, Executive Chairman of Morson Group, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Grosvenor Power Group and Aurora Power Consulting into Morson Group. Both organisations bring deep expertise and proven delivery capability at a time when the UK energy system is undergoing once-in-a-generation change.
There is an urgent need to increase Tier 2 supply chain capacity as major transmission upgrades accelerate across the UK. Success depends on more than technical knowledge. It demands scale, skills and joined-up delivery, from design and engineering through to installation on the ground.
By bringing together consultancy, workforce deployment, specialist talent and training, these acquisitions mark a significant step forward for Morson Group and a meaningful contribution to the UK’s long-term energy resilience.”
Expanding Tier 2 delivery capability
Grosvenor Power Group is a major high-voltage installation and commissioning specialist, operating across power, transformers and oil services. With more than 40 years’ experience, the business delivers installation, maintenance, modification and repair services for high-voltage systems ranging from 33kV to 400kV, including AIS, GIS, offshore wind connections and converter substations.
As part of our Group, Grosvenor Power Group continues to operate independently under its existing leadership, while gaining access to greater scale, capacity and long-term skills development support.
Aurora Power Consulting brings specialist expertise in network planning and power quality consultancy, strengthening our front-end engineering design and compliance services within Morson Praxis. The business supports some of the UK’s most complex transmission and renewable integration projects, with capabilities spanning grid code compliance, harmonic studies, fault-level analysis and power systems modelling.
Both businesses continue to serve their existing Tier 1 clients, supported by our wider resources, investment and strategic focus.
Leadership perspectives
Mark Stephen, Managing Director of Grosvenor Power Group, commented:
“Joining Morson Group secures long-term growth for our business and allows us to invest further in engineering talent. We are excited to work alongside Morson Praxis, Morson Vital and Morson Nexus to strengthen delivery capability and develop new skills for the future.”
Steve Sommerville, Managing Director of Aurora Power Consulting, added:
“Becoming part of Morson Group gives us the scale and support needed to meet rising demand while maintaining the technical quality our clients expect. We remain focused on our people and our clients, now with enhanced long-term stability.”
Chris Burke, CEO of Morson Praxis, said:
“The way electricity is generated, transmitted and consumed is changing rapidly. That shift is driving sustained demand across the transmission and distribution network. The Grosvenor and Aurora teams bring highly complementary expertise that strengthens our ability to support critical national infrastructure programmes and our Tier 1 partners at pace.”
Building sustainable skills for the future
These acquisitions also reinforce our commitment to developing future capability across the energy sector. Grosvenor Power Group already supports apprenticeships within its business, with clear plans to expand this further as demand grows.
Through Morson Nexus, we will deliver Ofqual-recognised training and apprenticeships for wiremen, fitters and high-voltage engineers, supported by hands-on HV rig training, SQEP development and mobile training units. This approach is designed to create a sustainable talent pipeline that supports Grosvenor Power Group and the wider UK energy infrastructure programme.
Following our recent transformation into four strategic business units – Morson Edge, Morson Praxis, Morson Vital and Morson Nexus – we are now uniquely positioned to deliver integrated Tier 2 solutions as the UK accelerates investment in energy resilience, capacity expansion and renewable integration.
