Jaguar Land Rover, FA3 Project

Morson Praxis provided a multi-disciplinary service working with Jaguar Land Rover to create a new trim and final line facility to enable production of 4×4 models in Solihull, worth over £50million.

Client Brief

A Collaborative Engineering Approach

Morson Praxis worked in close partnership with JLR’s in-house project and construction teams to deliver practical, efficient, and coordinated engineering solutions from concept through to completion.

Project Overview

Delivering Growth for JLR

Morson Praxis was appointed by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to provide civil and structural engineering design services for the FA3 Project, a major new Trim and Final Line facility at JLR’s Solihull manufacturing plant.

This £50 million investment formed a key part of JLR’s wider programme to expand production capacity, enhance manufacturing efficiency, and prepare the site for the next generation of 4×4 vehicle models.

The project began in January 2018 and was successfully completed in December 2020, representing a major milestone in JLR’s continued investment in UK automotive manufacturing.

Our Solution

Seamless Integration and Structural Design

Our team provided detailed structural design and analysis for both new buildings and extensions to the existing facility. We were responsible for modifying the existing roof structure to integrate new systems and services, ensuring these adaptations met all technical and safety requirements.

As part of the project, Morson Praxis also designed a new 85-metre-long body conveyor bridge to connect one of the existing Trim and Final Lines with the new facility. This bridge was critical to maintaining seamless production operations between both areas.

In addition, our engineers provided ongoing advisory support, assessing and addressing the civil and structural implications of the proposed works throughout construction.

Through careful planning, clear communication, and a commitment to collaboration, the Waldeck team ensured all works were delivered efficiently and safely, with minimal disruption to the live manufacturing environment.

The Results

On time and budget

The FA3 Project was completed on time and within budget, resulting in a modern, high-performance manufacturing facility designed to increase production capacity and improve operational workflow.
